USATacCharts provides offline moving FAAs Terminal Aeronautical Chart (TAC) charts. It includes all 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska. USATacCharts comes with New York TAC map pre-installed. You can download more charts as you please free of charge. There over 14 charts that cover entire United States. You get unlimited charts database update with this app. All charts work as self contained in offline mode where you do not need any network connections (Wifi or 4G). Your current location is shown on a moving map with green airplane icon centered around it. Green update icon will toggle GPS ON and OFF. When GPS is ON, map is automatically centered around current location. To pan maps, turn GPS update OFF and browse map with a swipe. Swipe screen and hit zoom button to zoom in and out. The TAC maps provided is 1:250,000 scale with Class B Airspace shown. The New York chart it comes with works. Unfortunately if you try to load any other chart it crashes. If you clear all data it will run again with the NY chart. Even more annoying the charts I would use (Chicago 93) are not available even though it says right in the app that all US charts are available. A waste of 99 cents, don't waste yours.
Can't get the app to work once I downloaded the map for Anchorage, Alaska. It keeps crashing. If I reinstall, it works again until I download the map again. I'm sure it's a great app, but there's a bug here somewhere. I'm using on a galaxy s7 with the latest uodate. I look forward to when this bug is out because I'd love to use the app.
